LY Steel starts-up the implementation of Strategic Map

Strategic Map has been applied as an advanced means of management by many well-known enterprises and achieved favorable results. In order to build lasting competitiveness and excellent performance mode for the constant development of the company, LY Steel starts up the management project this year.

From Feb 13th to 15th, the three-day Strategic Map Proseminar was held in LY Steel. Through learning and studying the advanced means of management Strategic Map, the strategic map at corporate level and for relative departments have been framed, which lays the foundation for the company to further strengthen interior management and enhance the corporate competitiveness in the market. General manager Zheng Baiping, Party secretary Zhang Yizhong and the whole senior leaders of the company attended the proseminar.
      
During the three days and under the guidance of experts, the participants follow the ways of formulating strategic map, seriously analyze and study the outside environment, industrial background, competitive advantage, exterior threat etc., and thus work out the corporate level strategic map and three interior strategic maps for sales, No. 1 steel-making and rolling plant and research & development. The experts give highly recognition to the strategic maps produced by the company.

LY Steel listed as Hunan major science &technology model enterprise concerning energy saving and emission reduction

With the official start-up of Hunan major energy-saving and emission-reduction project R&D and engineering demonstration on energy saving in sintering production and key technology & equipment of fume desulphurization, LY Steel, one of the enterprises to undertake the project, is listed as a model enterprise.  

The investment in the model project of LY Steel liquid-sealed circular cooler and high-efficient recycling of fume residual heat totaled to nearly RMB100million yuan. The sintering process can expect a 10% energy saving by reducing air leakage to decrease energy consumption and application of advanced technology and equipment such as power generation by residual heat. The project is scheduled to put into operation by June, 2010, which can lay the foundation for further improvement of clean production and recycling economy at LY Steel.

LY Steel Awarded the Best Enterprise Red Cross Title by Chinese Red Cross
Today, good news transmits from the Chinese Red Cross Organization Construction Work meeting and Commendation meeting for the top ten excellent enterprise red cross that, LY Steel is awarded the best enterprise red cross title. The sideline vice chairman of Hunan Provincial Red Cross and Party secretary of LY Steel Zhang Yizhong attends the meeting and receives the award. Meanwhile Luo Xianggui, employee worker from Information & Automatization Center of LY Steel is awarded the Red Cross Volunteer Star title. The chairman of Chinese Red Cross and the former deputy head of National People’s Congress Committee Peng Peiyun is present at the meeting. 

LY Steel has been positively and actively burdening the social duty as a large-scale enterprise ever since, and carrying out the work of LY Steel Red Cross by means of the completed and effective organization management and membership management system. In recent 5 years, LY Steel has made social contributions at the annual rate of 20.64%, inputting the poor-aid developing fund totaling up more than 10 million yuan, contributing building 10 Project Hope Primary Schools, relieving 20 thousand people out of poverty, and supporting the joint development of enterprise and local authority, with poor-supporting fund up to 20 plus million yuan. This year, confronted with the unprecedented storm disaster and plunged into the difficulty never experienced before, LY Steel was the first one to contribute one million yuan to Loudi Red Cross. After the terrible earthquake disaster in Wenchuan, Sichuan Province, LY Steel made total endowment of more than 5.4 million yuan, of which personal contributions took 2.28 million yuan and Party members donated 600,000 yuan.

Semi-process electric steel, the first “high tech and high value-added” product owned by LY Steel

Through 3-year research and practice of LY Steel technical personnel, the stable production technology of semi-process electric steel has been formed and created significant economic benefit. Recently the development of semi-process electric steel has obtained the national patent right, becoming the first “high tech and high value-added” product owned by LY Steel with independent intellectual property right, and was also awarded LY Steel Special Class Prize for Science & Technology Progress in 2008, breaking through from zero on the record of this class prize.

In the second half of 2006, LY Steel set the clear target for development, always attached attention to the progress achieved at each step and offered most supports in terms of technology and personnel arrangement. The top management in charge not only led the development staff to the market in order to get customer demand acquainted, but also kept concerned with production scheduling and coordinated the supply of raw materials.

The uniformity control of shape and thickness is another difficulty for semi-process electric steel production. Therefore in hot rolling process, the development team members had done a lot of adjustment regarding rolling temperature and cooling and optimized roll configuration. While in cold rolling process, they improved the uniformity of strip thickness by use of shifting and crown roll. Through long time efforts, the preliminary achievements have been made on control of shape and thickness uniformity by now.

Valin Group and ArcelorMittal sign a deal on electric steel project

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of foundation, LY Steel welcomes the new opportunity of development. On the morning of Sep.17th, the signing ceremony of electric steel joint venture (shortly called JV) between Valin Group and Arcelormittal was held in Changsha. The JV will produce electric steel with the state-of-the-art technology and take use of thin strip provided by LY Steel as substrate.

Zhou Qiang, governor and deputy Party secretary of Hunan province presented to express congratulations and gave a speech. Secretary-general of provincial government Yuan Jianrao, relevant department principals, chairman of Valin Group Li Xiaowei, general magager of Valin Group Li Jianguo, Executive vice-president of ArcelorMittal Jean-Yves Gilet, vice president and country manager of China Dirk Matthys, Deputy-general manager of LY Steel Liu Jishen, vice manager and chief engineer of LY Steel Jiao Guohua together with the principals of relative branches of Valin Group and LY Steel attended the signing ceremony. Cao Huiquan, general manager of Valin Steel Tube & Wire presides over the ceremony. 

Zhou Qiang said in his address, ArcelorMittal poses the most advanced technology, excellent team and global network in the world steel industry. It will not only deliver the most-advanced technology, equipment and talented persons, but also bring the world-leading management experience, which will generate far-reaching influence on the development and layout of Hunan steel industry. The provincial government and relevant authorities will create fine environment, provide quality service and give full support to the development of JV. Zhou hoped that both parties can put the agreement into actions as soon as possible and achieve win-win situation in the cooperation. He expressed his wishes on the successful cooperation of both parties to turn JV into the leading enterprise in steel industry.

 According to the agreement, both Valin Group and ArcelorMittal will jointly invest in JV with 50% shares held by each. The production capacity of JV shall be 400 thousand tons of non-oriented electrical steel and 200 thousand tons of oriented electrical steel.

LY Steel welcomes grand celebration of the 50th anniversary

The fire has been passed for 50 years which see the forward march in loud singing. September 17th, 2008 witnesses LY Steel has gone through the half-century splendid course. On the morning, the gymnasium has color balloons flying, gongs and drums batting, flowers blossoming, creating dense joyous atmosphere, and welcomes the celebration of LY Steel 50th Anniversary.

Zhang Chunxian, secretary of Hunan Communist Party and director of Standing Committee of Hunan People抯 Congress, made inscriptions for the LY Steel 50th anniversary. Cai Lifeng, deputy-director of Standing Committee of Hunan People Congress, sent congratulatory letters. Vice governor of Hunan Province Chen Zhaoxiong, arrived at the ceremony and made address. General Manager of LY Steel Zheng Baiping delivered a speech named Carry forward our cause into the future, Scientifically develop and Endeavor to build excellent enterprise with lasting competitiveness. Party secretary Zhang Yizhong presided over the ceremony.

The celebration started its prelude in the majestic national anthem and sturdy corporate song. Two young pioneers made dedications for the 50th birthday of LY Steel with heartfelt blessings.

In the address, Zheng said LY Steel through 50 years?arduous struggling has been extending its size and upgrading the comprehensive strength. Product mix keeps optimization and development stamina grows stronger. LY Steel takes new look with each passing day and employees and their families live and work in peace and contentment. Undergoing world-shaking changes for half century, especially since the reform and open policy, LY Steel paved the way of self-accumulating, self-remoulding and rolling-developing to success, matured from a local medium steel enterprise into an oversize industry enterprise, becoming the significant production base of sheet in the central section of our country. Zheng called on the whole staff to take the Spirit of the 17th National Congress as guidance, further open mind, completely fulfill the concept of Scientific Development, work up to historic missions and great trust of times, carry forward the cause into the future, scientifically develop, and strive to build an excellent enterprise with lasting competitiveness, jointly compose the new chapter and create the new splendors for LY Steel development.

Vice governor Chen showed warmed congratulations for the 50th anniversary of LY Steel foundation at the ceremony. He hoped the whole staff of LY Steel can make the anniversary ceremony the jumping-off point for new development, build the enterprise into a new one with advanced management, reasonable structure, top profit, fine environment and sustainable development through several years?struggle, so as to make new and greater contributions to the sound and fast development of economic society in our province.

For the tomorrow of LY Steel, we should take the heavy burden with courage, carry forward the cause and forge ahead into the future. We believe in the great course of the whole province insisting on the concept of Scientific Development, further opening mind and pushing ahead the new industrialization of Hunan Province, several generations of LY Steel having laid the solid foundation through half-century arduous carving out, LY Steel can certainly grasp the opportunity, confront with the challenges, and fulfill the historic span and new development with the strong leadership and kind care of Party committee, government of both provincial and municipal levels and Valin Group, with the vigorous support and warmed help of all social walks, and with the joint efforts of all LY Steel staff. Also on the celebration, the representative of witnesses since the foundation of LY Steel and the aged comrades and the senior retired corporate leader, Wang Changfen affectionately recalled the initial period of LY Steel foundation as well as the arduous carving-out history of the first generation of the enterprise builders, and then expressed his joyous emotions for the changing-day by day and fast development of LY Steel.
